Job Description:

Buckingham Browne & Nichols School is seeking a full-time Middle School Science teacher to work closely with a team of science teachers co-creating, evaluating, and teaching Science 7 (introductory physical science) and Science 8 (introductory chemistry). The teacher will teach 3-4 classes across both grades, value student voice and agency, and utilize a variety of pedagogical approaches. Other responsibilities include advising in the co-curricular advisory program and contributing to current program needs through coaching, supporting the athletic program, and/or potentially the Science Club.

Job Responsibility:

Planning and developing an engaging, age-appropriate course of study
Preparing materials for lessons, assignments, and tests
Evaluating, correcting, and grading student performance
Supervising student behavior
Monitoring students' progress
Communicating progress and concerns with parents and colleagues
Building and maintaining positive relationships
Enforcing safety and security standards
Maintaining required paperwork
Monitoring halls, study periods, and lunch
Participating in faculty meetings, conferences, and training
Maintaining knowledge of research, developments, and best practices
Sponsoring student activities or organizations, including athletics

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Science or a related field (required)
Master’s Degree in Science (preferred)
At least four years of experience teaching Science at the middle school level (preferred)

Dedication to encouraging students to think deeply through scientific inquiry
A creative and multi-dimensional educator
Commitment to creating experiences to foster student curiosity and engage in meaningful experimentation
Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of people

Demonstrate dedication to supporting adolescent growth and development and promoting a growth mindset

Nice to have:

Master’s Degree in Science
At least four years of experience teaching Science at the middle school level
A creative and multi-dimensional educator whose personal and professional characteristics will bring new perspectives to our community
