As a Middle Office Equities Analyst, you will manage high volumes of work in a fast-paced, demanding environment, ensuring trade economics are pristine and risk is minimized. This is a fantastic 12-month contract opportunity with a strong possibility of extension or permanent conversion for the right performer, allowing you to establish a deep footprint within a premier tier-one bank.

Job Responsibility

  • Providing comprehensive middle office trade support across allocation, reconciliation, and inventory balancing functions
  • Ensuring accurate trade capture, matching, and settlement readiness for equities and derivatives flows
  • Acting as a key control point between the Front Office, external clients, custodians, and clearing/depository platforms (CDS/DTC)
  • Focusing heavily on break resolution, risk mitigation (fails/capital), and adhering strictly to regulatory timelines (including the T+1 lifecycle)
  • Performing block and step-out allocations across client and internal accounts while managing DKs, unmatched, and unaffirmed trades
  • Monitoring and resolving exceptions in CTM and various matching platforms, validating trade economics against OMS and street records
  • Utilizing and maintaining Excel VBA spreadsheets to support daily operational effectiveness and macro-driven tools
  • Navigating core shift schedules (Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM or 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM) based on business coverage needs, with flexibility for overtime as required

Requirements

  • 2 to 4 years of overall professional experience, featuring at least 3 years specifically within a middle office capacity
  • 3+ years of capital markets experience with a deep understanding of institutional equities
  • Proven proficiency using books and records systems, institutional matching, or clearing platforms (e.g., ISM/IBM, SOPHIS, FIDESSA, CTM, CDS, DTC)
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, specifically the ability to use and maintain VBA macros
  • Proven ability to manage high volumes of work under tight deadlines while mitigating risk and supporting a T+1 settlement environment

Nice to have

  • A completed University or College degree in a STEM discipline
  • Successful completion of Canadian Securities Institute (CSI) courses with a specific tieback to Equities (e.g., CSC, CPH, or Derivatives courses)

What we offer

  • Build your resume by working within a globally recognized financial institution and a leading capital markets environment
  • 12-month contract duration with a definitive possibility for extension or permanent conversion based on performance and business needs
  • Hybrid work model, currently requiring 2 days on-site (Anchor Days: Tuesday and Thursday) at a prime downtown Toronto location
  • Structured 1-to-3-week training period alongside an experienced, collaborative team of 6 professionals
  • Exposure to both internal front-office desks and external clients, custodians, and clearing platforms
