SKELAR is a venture builder that builds international product IT companies, where we have recreated the venture capital world. Together with our co-founders, we gather strong teams to kick off and run tech businesses and win at global markets. Currently, we are looking for a Senior Legal Counsel focusing on product and marketing compliance, data protection, IP, and adherence to regulatory requirements in Tier-1 geographies (such as the USA, EU, UK, etc.). Our Legal team handles complex cases and provides top-level legal support. Thanks to us, our founders can build successful businesses more easily and quickly without worrying about legal issues.

Job Responsibility:

  • Identifying potential legal risks in the areas of consumer protection, data protection, and IP in the jurisdictions of our operations (with a focus on the USA and the EU)
  • Developing and implementing risk mitigation strategies
  • Building legal processes to manage risks in the various areas of business operations (data protection, marketing, payment, consumer rights, etc.)
  • Providing support for businesses during investigations by regulatory authorities
  • Participation in the dispute resolution process
  • Raising stakeholders’ awareness about developments in the regulatory framework
  • Partnering with businesses in enhancing compliance
  • Proactive management of relationships with stakeholders
  • Building own team

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience in law firms / Big 4 / local or international top-tier companies
  • A degree in law from a Ukrainian or foreign university
  • Fluent Ukrainian and English
  • Initiative and willingness to work on a wide variety of legal matters and to think creatively to solve complex legal issues
  • Action-oriented, well-organised, self-starter
  • Skillful translator of complex legal issues into plain business solutions
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal

Nice to have:

  • Expertise in consumer protection laws in the USA and EU (FTC Act, ROSCA, CAN-SPAM Act, OMNIBUS Directive, etc.)
  • Understanding of GDPR and other data protection regulations/frameworks
  • Expertise advising companies through the life cycle of business operations, including on commercial, compliance, and intellectual property matters
