The team is building integrations with external systems. This includes things like finance systems, CRMs, specialist media systems (newspaper planning and production systems), and lots of others. The development result is usually an "agent" that can be configured to run on a schedule, which queries event's engine, creates a list of changes since it last ran, extracts a set of data, applies some logic and transformations to it, formats it (XML, Json, CSV, etc), and sends it to a target (a web service, a sftp server, etc). These agents might also receive datasets, which they have to unpack and insert (or update). And some of them are two-way, so they send and receive.
