Job Description

Sotheby’s seeks a dynamic marketing professional to join the Integrated Marketing Team in London, with a focus on growing both luxury and fine art in the Middle East. This person will also be closely involved in growing Sotheby’s Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Saudi Arabia, amongst other Middle East locations. As the marketing lead and support for the Middle East you will need to design, cultivate, nurture and grow the audience in ways dynamic, forward thinking and innovative for the business. It will require you to work closely with the local team and departments to grow and innovate across multiple channels: auction, e-commerce, retail, events and partnerships. The Marketing Manager will provide direction for brand positioning, key events, partnerships, and editorial strategy. S/he will work closely with colleagues across the division (eg Content & Creative Services, Proposals, Digital Marketing, Events and Partnerships) to elevate the Region by leveraging the larger Sotheby’s marketing ecosystem. The Marketing Manager will also collaborate with colleagues in related departments including Communications & Social Media, Operations, and E-Commerce to create truly integrated campaigns. In addition, this position oversees all new initiatives which bring the best of Sotheby’s fine art and luxury to the hearts of our community whilst we care for our existing clients in addition to attracting new prospects.

Job Responsibility

  • Help define and implement the market marketing strategy across all channels, including auction, marketplace and showroom to elevate awareness, reinforce positioning, drive new client acquisition and further engage the existing client base
  • Ensure regular communication between all departments in the region to ensure alignment and consistency on category goals, strategy, branding and content creation through global weekly meetings with relevant marketing managers and other marketing functions to outline weekly priorities to ensure alignment
  • Define budget resource allocation globally and oversee this across all regions
  • Outline best practices across all campaign elements
  • Own regional presentation across Sotheby’s digital channels to ensure content is represented and visible
  • Build plans which fuel regional growth and development as well as event participation and maximising sponsorship
  • Outline the content strategy with particular focus on evergreen content
  • Compile sale reports for the region in which they reside and oversee those in the other localized regions
  • Drive multi-platform consignment getting strategy and campaigns, working closely with the Specialist Departments to coordinate and optimise all consignment getting initiatives
  • Adapt plans to foster grow and sales in the Middle East
  • Create marketing budgets that fuel the region
  • Oversee the local execution and promotion of events, exhibitions and travelling exhibitions
  • Compile post-sale reports
  • Collaborate across sales departments to gain consensus on goals and creative approaches
  • Create integrated plans and budgets in collaboration with Content & Creative, Digital Production, Special Events and Communications teams

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5+ years relevant experience in marketing, partnerships or ad/brand/creative agency
  • Passion for and understanding of fine art and luxury goods
  • Self-motivated with a keen attention to detail, excellent communication skills
  • Action-oriented with exceptional project management skills – able to manage multiple, time-sensitive projects at once
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to work with internal/external clients and vendors – able to influence and communicate a vision
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and responds with resourcefulness and an ability to think outside the box
  • Innate curiosity with an interest in art, culture & luxury
  • Positive attitude and able to quickly build team rapport
  • Understanding of KPIs and campaign performance metrics across online marketing channels

  • Quarterly Planning: Lead the quarterly planning process for promotional activities, taking into account business priorities, partner objectives, past performance of promotions, and market trends to proactively identify future growth opportunities. Align promotional plans across central and local marketing teams, ensuring the necessary technical, reporting, and targeting foundations are in place for successful execution.
