Job Description:

BaseMEL is looking for a Mid-Weight Designer, a concept-led thinker who lives and breathes brand but can stretch into digital, motion and/or campaign work, then land it with craft and clarity. As the newest Base, Melbourne is a tight-knit team of six (plus a circle of collaborators) working across arts & culture, beauty & fashion, architecture, tech, media, sport and hospitality. You’ll join us to conceptualise, create and run the day-to-day, contributing to a wide mix of projects and keeping the work sharp and on-track.

Job Responsibility:

Relentlessly pursue unique and original creative concepts that transcend design trends
Translate strategy into brand identities, campaigns, print, digital, packaging and more
Support senior designers on larger projects while owning your own, driving experiences and design systems from spark to finish
Iterate quickly, refine through feedback loops with senior team designer, and keep an eye on craft
Find and brief the right collaborators (illustrators, photographers, animators, developers, writers, etc.)
Partner with PMs to scope, schedule and hit deadlines

Requirements:

3+ years studio/agency experience
Confident across typography, layout, art direction and basic motion
Fluency in Figma and Adobe CC
Collaborative, proactive, rigorous
equal parts creative & strategic
Restless thinker who challenges, surprises and raises the bar
Detail-driven executor who can scale an idea across any medium
Communicative! Both when presenting work and internally with the team and project management
Culturally engaged and perpetually curious
Melbourne-based with full Australian working rights

Nice to have:

digital skills a plus, not a must
After Effects, 3D or prototyping tools a plus
