This role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, supporting Spirit’s Commercial Business Units (“Spirit Commercial”). Spirit Commercial designs and builds commercial aerostructures, including for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, one of Boeing’s three business units and the premier manufacturer of commercial jetliners for decades. Spirit Commercial’s core products include fuselages, pylons, nacelles and wing components, with a focus on innovative composite and aluminum manufacturing solutions.
Job Responsibility
Implements fabrication, assembly, or installation manufacturing plans by coordinating with suppliers, engineering, and manufacturing teams
Has the ability to demonstrate configuration control of the hardware, within the manufacturing build plan
Understanding the application of principles, concepts, practices, and standards of industry practices
Knowledge to develop tooling, interchangeability, replacement, and functional test plans
Using the established manufacturing process flow, defines sequences of events, develops text and graphics work instructions, manufacturing datasets, tooling requirements, and manufacturing bills of material
Communicates with engineering teams to influence and clarify design concepts. Coordinates change incorporation, optimizes processes, addresses producibility issues, production & post production problems
Coordinates with a variety of other organizations
Ability to apply process knowledge in one or more of the following areas
Composite non-metallic, Machining, Sheet metal, and Structures
Some experience with CATIA V5, SAP, Right Hemisphere or equivalent
Must be willing to work in the manufacturing environment
Requirements
Minimum of 5-9 years of Manufacturing Engineering/planning experience
Strong to excellent SAP knowledge
Strong to excellent general computing skills
This individual needs to be a self-starter who can eventually take a project from start to finish and has a willingness to work with all disciplines to accomplish a goal
High School Diploma or GED
Nice to have
Computer skills: MS Office suite, SAP, Catia
Experience with manufacturing engineering
Aircraft knowledge and manufacturing experience
Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, PL’s and Specifications
Experience with Catia programs
Bachelors degree is highly preferred but not required
