Job Description:

The Individual Consultant shall provide assistance on projects related to the Universal Access to Information and Digital Inclusion Section in the Communication and Information Sector’s work on Open Educational Resources (OER).

Job Responsibility:

  • Support UNESCO’s capacity-building and policy initiatives for the implementation of the 2019 Recommendation on OER
  • Support the strengthening of international collaboration through the IGF/UNESCO OER Dynamic Coalition and regional engagement
  • Support overall programme implementation
  • Support the organization of at least 5 regional information meetings on the 2nd Consultation on the OER Recommendation
  • Support the preparation and launch of communication materials on OER with regional and inter-regional partners
  • Support the development and dissemination of capacity-building toolkits
  • Support the development of awareness-raising content
  • Provide follow-up support for communication projects
  • Organize at least 2 training sessions on the Dubai Declaration, OER, and Open Solutions
  • Support the continuation and expansion of online collaborative activities through the UNESCO OER Dynamic Coalition Portal
  • Undertake other specific duties as instructed by the Supervisor
  • Ensuring visibility of activities, through drafting articles, newsletters, supporting the development of awareness-raising campaigns

Requirements:

  • Advanced university degree (Masters or equivalent) in education, communication, social sciences or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience at the international level in education and/or communication and information and/or a related field
  • Experience in communicating project implementation actions and results in a multilanguage context
  • Excellent communication skills, excellent writing skills
  • Demonstrated ability to conceptualize issues and analyze data to compile and synthesize information in coherent and succinct formats
  • Ability to implement communications and publications strategies
  • Advocates effectively
  • Excellent coordination and negotiation skills
  • Communicates sensitively and effectively across different constituencies
  • Sharing knowledge across the organization and building a culture of knowledge sharing and learning

  • Excellent knowledge of English and very good knowledge of French

  • Experience implementing activities related to OER and UNESCO Normative Instruments
  • Work experience in the establishment and maintenance of electronic collaborative working spaces for the implementation of activities in a multilingual and multicultural environment
  • Experience working on activities related to technologies and learning in the UNESCO and/or UN Context
  • Experience working with UNESCO Field Units
  • Experience in coordinating regional capacity-building initiatives and training programmes
  • Knowledge of Arabic, Chinese, Russian and/or Spanish will be an asset
