Job Description:

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Associate Director, Software Engineering. HSBC is one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world. In this role, you will focus on solution architecture, Power Platform administration, ALM & DevOps, development & implementation oversight, and technical leadership & collaboration.

Job Responsibility:

  • lead the design and architecture of complex Power Platform solutions, aligning with business needs, security standards, and enterprise architecture principles
  • define technical specifications, data models, integration strategies, and user experience (UX) guidelines for Canvas Apps and Model-Driven Apps
  • architect secure and scalable solutions leveraging Dataverse as the primary data store, including entity design, relationships, and security roles
  • design and implement complex business process automations using Power Automate, integrating with various internal and external systems
  • provide expert guidance and technical leadership to development teams building Power Platform solutions
  • ensure adherence to coding standards, best practices, and performance optimization techniques
  • conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to developers
  • oversee the end-to-end development lifecycle from requirements gathering to deployment
  • establish and enforce robust Power Platform Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) strategies
  • design, implement, and manage Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for Power Platform solutions using Azure DevOps or similar tools
  • define and manage deployment strategies for Power Platform solutions across various environments (Dev, Test, UAT, Production)
  • implement version control and branching strategies for Power Platform components
  • provide expertise in Power Platform administration, including environment management, security roles, data loss prevention (DLP) policies, and capacity planning
  • define and implement governance frameworks for Power Platform usage within the bank
  • monitor platform health, performance, and security, identifying and addressing potential issues proactively
  • act as a subject matter expert for the Microsoft Power Platform within the Payments Technology department
  • collaborate effectively with business stakeholders, product owners, other architects, and development teams to understand requirements and deliver impactful solutions
  • mentor junior developers and contribute to the technical growth of the team
  • stay abreast of the latest Power Platform features, updates, and best practices, and recommend their adoption where beneficial.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in IT with at least 5+ years of dedicated experience in Microsoft Power Platform solution architecture, design, and development
  • proven deep expertise in designing and developing complex Canvas Apps and Model-Driven Apps
  • extensive experience with Dataverse (formerly Common Data Service/CDS), including data modeling, security, and integration
  • strong proficiency in designing and implementing Power Automate flows (cloud flows and desktop flows), including advanced connectors and custom connectors
  • demonstrable experience with Power Platform ALM, including solutions, environments, and deployment strategies
  • hands-on experience in setting up and managing CI/CD pipelines for Power Platform solutions using Azure DevOps or similar tools
  • solid understanding of Power Platform administration, governance, and security best practices (DLP policies, security roles, environment strategies)
  • experience with Power BI integration and reporting is a plus
  • knowledge of Azure services relevant to Power Platform (e.g., Azure Functions, Azure Logic Apps, Azure API Management) is highly desirable
  • Microsoft Power Platform certifications (e.g., PL-600: Microsoft Power Platform Solution Architect, PL-400: Microsoft Power Platform Developer) are highly preferred
  • excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, agile environment
  • prior experience in the banking or financial services industry, particularly with payments systems, is a significant advantage.

  • experience with Power BI integration and reporting is a plus
  • knowledge of Azure services relevant to Power Platform (e.g., Azure Functions, Azure Logic Apps, Azure API Management) is highly desirable
