To manage and control M-Pesa Trust accounts by ensuring that all electronic money (e-money) movements are fully backed by bank balances, that trust funds are protected, reconciled, accurately reported, and compliant with internal policies and Central Bank regulations, while mitigating financial, operational, and regulatory risks.
Job Responsibility:
Manage and oversee all M-Pesa Trust bank accounts, ensuring full alignment between e-money control accounts and corresponding trust bank balances
Monitor CPR limits, trust funding levels, and partner balances to ensure regulatory compliance and liquidity adequacy
Prepare and submit required Trust and Central Bank (BCC) reports, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness
Maintain active access and reporting oversight through the Central Bank (BCC) reporting portal
Manage trust account flows in G2 system and ensure correct posting and mapping of trust transactions
Ensure correct accounting treatment of all trust operations in line with IFRS, OHADA, and regulatory standards
Perform daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliation between trust bank statements and e-money control accounts
Investigate and resolve any discrepancies between Trust bank movements and M-Pesa system records
Support internal and external audits related to Trust governance, AML, and e-money regulations
Implement and strengthen internal controls around trust fund movements to mitigate fraud, leakage, or regulatory breaches
Requirements:
Strong knowledge of Trust accounting and e-money regulations
Advanced reconciliation and analytical skills
Risk management and internal control implementation
Strong communication and stakeholder coordination skills
High attention to detail and compliance orientation
Deep understanding of M-Pesa Trust structures and regulations
Strong knowledge of Central Bank (BCC) requirements
Proficiency in G2 systems and bank reporting structures
Advanced Microsoft Excel and financial analysis skills
Knowledge of Vodacom / Vodafone treasury standards
Minimum 5–10 years in Treasury, Trust, or Financial Control roles
Experience in mobile money, banking or fintech environment preferred
Strong background in reconciliations, trust management, and reporting
Proven exposure to audits and regulatory engagements
Proven experience in managing liquidity, banking facilities, and cash-flow forecasting
Experience with foreign exchange exposure management and reporting
Prior involvement in digital treasury transformation or ERP migration is an advantage
Strong track record of stakeholder collaboration and risk mitigation in a complex multi-bank environment
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
Professional certification (ACT, CFA, CIMA, or ACCA) is an advantage
Nice to have:
Experience in mobile money, banking or fintech environment preferred
Prior involvement in digital treasury transformation or ERP migration is an advantage
