Job Description:

We are seeking a high-caliber Qualified French Teacher (QTS) for a permanent position at a wonderful Secondary School in Cambridge, commencing this September. This school is a hub for international mindedness and is looking for a specialist who can deliver high-impact lessons that inspire a genuine love for the Francophone world. Job Responsibility:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, immersive lessons across KS3 and KS4, with the opportunity to lead A-Level French cohorts.
  • Cultivate a classroom environment where the target language is used authentically, building student confidence in listening and speaking.
  • Lead students through exam specifications (AQA/Edexcel), focusing on high-level translation, literary analysis, and spontaneous oral performance.
  • Integrate Francophone literature, cinema, and current affairs into the curriculum to provide real-world context and depth.
  • Contribute to the evolution of the MFL schemes of work, ensuring they remain diverse, challenging, and inclusive.
  • Take on a form tutor role, providing holistic support and academic mentoring to a dedicated group of students.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Mandatory. A degree in French or a related linguistic discipline.
  • Near-Native Fluency: Exceptional command of the French language and a deep-seated passion for Francophone cultures.
  • Classroom Management: The ability to foster a "fail-safe" environment where students feel empowered to take risks with their speech.
  • Collaborative Spirit: A desire to work closely with the MFL team to organise trips, exchange programs, and international celebrations.
  • Compliance: An enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process a new one via Randstad).
