The Metrology Technician supports manufacturing and quality operations through accurate and timely dimensional and functional inspection of components, sub-assemblies, and systems. This role is focused on executing inspection activities using established methods, programs, and work instructions to verify compliance to engineering drawings, specifications, and CTQ requirements. The technician operates metrology and inspection equipment, records and validates measurement results, and partners closely with Metrology Engineers, Quality, and Manufacturing teams to support incoming, in-process, and supplier inspection needs. The role is hands-on and detail-oriented, playing a critical part in defect detection, containment, and data integrity within a high-volume manufacturing environment.
Job Responsibility
Perform dimensional and visual inspections using hand tools and automated measurement equipment
Operate CMMs, vision systems, laser scanners, and other inspection equipment following established programs
Identify out-of-tolerance conditions and escalate issues according to established procedures
Accurately document inspection results, calibration records, and nonconformances
Support Incoming Quality, In-Process inspection, and Supplier Quality activities as required
Maintain inspection equipment, fixtures, and lab organization
Execute routine and non-routine calibration of measurement tools and gages per calibration schedules
Follow SOPs, work instructions, and safety procedures at all times
Requirements
High school diploma or GED required
Associate’s degree or technical certification preferred
4+ years of experience as a Metrology Technician, Quality Technician, or Calibration Technician
Hands-on experience with measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and optical comparators
Experience operating CMM or automated inspection systems preferred
Ability to read engineering drawings and interpret basic GD&T
Familiarity with calibration systems, inspection records, and quality documentation
Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a production-driven environment
Nice to have
Experience in electronics, mechanical assemblies, or EMS/ODM manufacturing
Exposure to ISO quality systems or calibration standards
