Job Description:

Metrology is the science of measurement, and it plays a vital role in ensuring the quality and reliability of products and components. You’ll learn how to apply core measurement principles in real-world environments, using tools, instrumentation, and software to plan and carry out precise measurement tasks.

Job Responsibility:

  • Apply core measurement principles in real-world environments, using tools, instrumentation, and software to plan and carry out precise measurement tasks
  • Build core knowledge and technical skills in the Skills Academy
  • Rotate through different areas of AWE, applying what you’ve learned in live production and trial settings
  • Study at the National Physical Laboratory (NPL) in London, working towards the Level 3 Metrology Technician apprenticeship

Requirements:

  • 5 GCSE’s at grade 4/C or above including Maths and English and a 5/B in Science
  • Applicants must be aged 18 or over, as of 31st August 2026, due to security clearance requirements
  • You’ll need to be a British Citizen for security clearance
  • Ability to concentrate
  • Good at following instructions
  • Good data skills
  • Good maths skills
  • IT skills
