Job Description

Great opportunity in Surrey BC, we are currently looking for a Ground Inspector/ Metal Inspector to work in a busy automotive yard. The Grounds Inspector plays a key role in daily yard operations by inspecting incoming customer loads, directing them to the appropriate unloading areas, and maintaining clear communication across the facility via radio. This position helps ensure safe, efficient, and organized material handling throughout the yard. This position is best suited if you enjoy a shipping and receiving area, understands metals, mechanics and takes pride in quality control than this is the perfect fit. The ideal candidate for this position is someone who enjoys hands-on, physical work in a fast-paced outdoor environment and takes pride in maintaining quality and operational efficiency.

Job Responsibility

  • Report problems and communicate throughout the facility via radio
  • General yard clean up and repairs
  • Greet customers
  • Inspect customer loads and directing them to the proper location in the yard to unload
  • Basic sorting of scrap material and quality inspection
  • Grading of material and deductions
  • Doing basic quality assurance of materials
  • Accurately recording of production data
  • Climbing up truck ladders to inspect load
  • Participating in safety, quality and environmental inspections

Requirements

  • You can meet the schedule and shift time: Monday to Saturday
  • High School diploma, GED Certification, or equivalent experience in a similar role preferred
  • Min of 1+ years of experience working in a yard or automotive garage environment
  • Mechanically inclined/experience using hand/power tools
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
  • You are comfortable working in a covered outdoor environment in all types of weather
  • No physical limitations and ability to lift up to 55 lbs, and stand/walk for 8 hour shift
  • Good attitude and can work well with no supervision and with the team
  • You have High Ankle Steel Toe Boots with Toe Cover (metatarsal protector)
  • Located in Surrey, BC
  • Vehicle is preferred for this role
  • Previous experience in scrap metal, construction, or industrial yard work is an asset but not required
