Full-time Metal Fabricator position available with competitive salary. Work in a dynamic team in Mona Vale, NSW. Letchford Engineering is a well-established Australian-owned metal design and manufacturing business based in Mona Vale on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. The company specialises in high-quality custom metal fabrication, welding, cutting, bending and finishing services for commercial, industrial and architectural projects. Our products include fire door systems, drains, handrails, gates, marine components and other engineered metal solutions. The successful candidate will be responsible for fabricating, assembling and finishing metal components in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications and quality standards.
Job Responsibility:
Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints and job specifications to determine fabrication requirements
Measure, mark, cut and prepare metal stock using hand tools, power tools and metal cutting machinery
Bend, form and shape metal sections using presses, rollers and other fabrication equipment
Align, assemble and join metal components using welding techniques (MIG, TIG and arc), bolting and riveting
Inspect completed welds and fabricated components to ensure accuracy, strength and quality
Perform finishing processes including grinding, filing and polishing
Ensure all work complies with workplace health and safety requirements and Australian standards
Maintain tools, machinery and workshop equipment in safe working condition
Work collaboratively with engineers, supervisors and other tradespeople to meet production deadlines
Requirements:
Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade or equivalent qualification (preferred)
Relevant industry experience in structural, architectural or general metal fabrication
At least 2-3 years’ experience as a Metal Fabricator in a manufacturing or fabrication environment
Strong ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
Competency in welding and metal fabrication techniques
High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong awareness of workplace safety practices
