The Metadata Coordinator is responsible for obtaining, inputting, and updating metadata in in-house repertoire management database to meet production schedule deadlines. The role also supports artwork proofing, licensing submissions, royalty-bearing status updates, publishing research, and notification of stakeholders when metadata is ready for review and distribution.
Job Responsibility:
Translate label copy information into metadata and populate the repertoire system for frontline and catalog releases
Partner with Senior Manager to confirm all required data points are captured
Attend weekly Production meetings
Proof artwork and provide corrections and guidance
Finalize and distribute label copy for new releases
Research and verify publishing ownership for catalog releases
Input updates to the repertoire system at the request of Music Royalties
Issue Audio ISRCs by request from Licensing
Research and cleanse older product records and metadata issues
Enter new sound recordings derived from audio-visual productions
Input catalog releases for historical tracking
Audit and reconcile data migration between databases
Develop knowledge of DMG releases
Build collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders
Inputting, updating, and correcting catalog releases using physical product, internal production reports, and online sources
Inputting sound recording information for neighboring rights collections
Researching and cleansing incomplete or incorrect legacy metadata in preparation for database migration
Completing a minimum number of weekly tasks, measured against defined metrics
Requirements:
Minimum 2 years of recorded music and music publishing industry and label copy experience
2+ years of database management or data entry experience
Proficiency with Microsoft Office
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Resourceful in locating and verifying information
Clear and concise communication skills
Ability to work under tight deadlines
Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships
Neighboring rights experience (highly preferred)
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Must-haves: minimum 2 years music/label copy experience, minimum 2 years database entry, extremely detail-oriented, quick learner, proactive about asking questions, excellent communication skills
