Lead the development and execution of merchandising strategies for a leading performance footwear and apparel brand in Japan. You will be the driving force behind defining seasonal assortments and product flow for the Japanese market, ensuring the right products reach the right consumers at the right time. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including Sales, E-commerce, Retail, Planning, and Marketing to ensure a consistent brand presentation. You'll leverage your expertise to analyze market trends, competitor activities, and consumer insights to create innovative and compelling product offerings, contributing directly to the brand's success in Japan.
Job Responsibility:
Lead the development and execution of merchandising strategies for a leading performance footwear and apparel brand in Japan
Lead the development of consumer-right assortments and flow by category
Ensure all Japan teams and key stakeholders are engaged in delivering the assortment strategy
Collaborate with Marketing to coordinate the delivery of product information to sales teams
Present the Japan merchandise strategy to leadership and key customers
Support Demand Planning and Sales to ensure accurate seasonal forecasts
Travel regularly to key local markets to stay in touch with trends and consumers
Champion continuous innovation and improvement, analyzing competitor activity and identifying assortment opportunities
Lead SMU product creation initiatives (when applicable)
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
5-7 years of experience in Footwear & Apparel Merchandising, preferably in a performance brand
Experience in a performance category (Road running, track and field, hiking, outdoor) is preferred
Proven ability to build collaborative relationships across cross-functional teams
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities
