The MEP Senior Project Manager serves as a senior operational leader responsible for aligning multiple trades on large-scale or complex projects. This role provides oversight of project managers, ensures cross-trade coordination, and drives project execution from preconstruction through closeout. You will act as the bridge between estimating and operations, while also serving as the escalation point for clients and general contractors.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead, mentor, and develop Senior Project Managers and Project Managers across electrical, mechanical, and plumbing scopes
  • Conduct monthly performance reviews and ensure PM workload balance (target: ≤ 6 projects per PM)

  • Provide unified leadership across multi-trade projects with shared job sites
  • Own cross-trade coordination, scheduling, and conflict resolution
  • Partner with MEP Superintendents to align field execution, manpower planning, and production goals
  • Review and approve project financials across the PM portfolio, including: Budgets
  • Change orders
  • WIP reports
  • Forecasting and profitability
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and at Excel’s quality standards
  • Establish and enforce project management standards, including: Project setup and documentation
  • Communication cadence
  • Project closeout procedures
  • Lead structured handoff processes from estimating to operations
  • Drive estimating accuracy by implementing post-project feedback loops
  • Identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for operational improvements
  • Serve as escalation point for client and GC relationships on complex projects
  • Manage high-level communication and resolve commercial disputes

Requirements

  • 8–12+ years of experience in construction project management (MEP preferred)
  • Proven leadership experience managing multiple PMs or large-scale projects
  • Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical, and/or plumbing systems
  • Experience managing multi-trade commercial or industrial projects
  • Demonstrated success in financial management (budgets, WIP, forecasting)
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
