We are currently recruiting for an MEP Manager to be a key member of a growing team to deliver a new datacentre project based in Greater Madrid. Position Description: Oversee and direct preconstruction, engineering and field installation of all Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP) systems. Join Turner, Powered by Dornan. This is a unique opportunity to join one of the world's most respected general contractors. While you'll be hired and supported by Dornan, you will be placed directly on Turner's project team, working alongside top-tier professionals on some of the most advanced builds in the region. Current roles are primarily based in Madrid, with future opportunities expected further afield in Europe. Depending on your role, you may be site-based (with relocation support if needed), or offered remote working options, which will be clarified during the interview process.
Job Responsibility:
Develop and maintain relationships with engineers, design consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, inspectors, and owner's representatives to ensure alignment with client goals and expectations from initiation to completion of the project
Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the contract documents (including Turner's contract, plans, specifications and applicable codes)
Lead, supervise and develop MEP staff, including providing input on performance appraisals
Oversee daily activities of Engineer-MEP, Superintendent-MEP, and subordinates
Lead the MEP project team, subcontractors, owner's consultants and representatives to ensure optimal alignment and efficient systems installation
Prepare and manage contract items for all components, materials, and systems to ensure that all schedule dates are in compliance with the project schedule
Participate in schedule update meetings and provide the latest information for an informed and accurate schedule
Oversee the MEP engineers processing of RFIs and Submittals
Manage the budget including the review, evaluation, and negotiation of all change orders with understanding of the financial status of all subcontractors
Supervise, coach and mentor MEP Engineers
Co-lead the MEP Coordination Process with the VDC Engineer, ensuring overall installation is in compliance with the design requirements, operations and maintenance fundamentals, and quality standards
Prepare scope of work documents with a division of responsibility for trades and specific scopes of work for temporary operations
Partner with the MEP Superintendent/Construction Manager to resolve conflicts between the mechanical and electrical systems with the site logistics plan and in compliance with the project schedule
Co-lead with the MEP Superintendent the overall turnover process including start-up, testing, commissioning and closeout
Conduct regular project walkthroughs with the MEP staff to ensure that work is proceeding in accordance with the contract documents, coordination drawings, and approved submittals
Identify and inform field staff of difficult installation requirements in sufficient time to allow for proper planning and execution
Manage and secure all municipal and agency documentation required for temporary certificates of information and system operation
Create and implement the quality control plan with the MEP Superintendent
Requirements:
Previous experience in either a mechanical or electrical discipline
Strong technical knowledge and organisational skills
Ability to prioritise and manage workload under pressure
Self-aware with a commitment to personal and professional development
