We are seeking compassionate and reliable Mental Health Support Assistants to join our dedicated team in Littlehampton. You will play a vital role in supporting individuals living with mental health conditions to lead safe, independent, and fulfilling lives. As a Mental Health Support Assistant, you will provide person-centred care and practical support to service users in supported living or community settings. You’ll work as part of a multidisciplinary team to encourage recovery, independence, and wellbeing.
Job Responsibility
Provide day-to-day emotional and practical support to individuals with mental health needs
Support service users with daily living skills such as cooking, budgeting, and personal care where appropriate
Encourage engagement in social, educational, and recreational activities
Maintain accurate records and contribute to care/support plans
Promote dignity, independence, and recovery-focused approaches
Work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and healthcare professionals
Requirements
A positive attitude towards supporting people with mental health needs
Willingness to complete relevant training
Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one)
Compassionate, patient, and non-judgemental
Good communicators and active listeners
Reliable and able to work well both independently and as part of a team
Flexible to work shifts, including evenings and weekends where required
Experience in mental health, social care, or support work
NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent)
Knowledge of recovery-based support approaches
Nice to have
