A qualified Solicitor with solid experience in mental health law

Job Responsibility

Giving clear, expert advice on mental health law – including detention, tribunals, and appeals
Representing clients at Mental Health Tribunals and Hospital Managers’ hearings
Preparing casework and making sure everything’s on time and on point
Working closely with professionals like psychiatrists and social workers to support clients’ rights
Staying up to date with changes in mental health law and policy
Supporting vulnerable clients with empathy, care, and professionalism

Requirements

Qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales
Previous Healthcare Inquest experience, including advocacy
Ability to work flexibly and as part of a team – excellent organisation and attention to detail
COP/ Litigation skills would also be desirable

Job Responsibility

Advising clients on a wide range of issues including inquest, public inquiries, best interests applications, claims for judicial review, mental health law, patient care issues, and clinical and corporate governance matters
Inquests, including advocacy
Court of Protection, treatment and best interest cases including advocacy
Advising on public law issues such as public and patient involvement and consultation, governance and constitutional issues, judicial review and human rights
Advising on matters of general healthcare law including patient complaints, SUI and Ombudsman investigations, and a variety of other health sector legislation and guidance including mental health
Advising on care standards legislation and practice and information governance matters
