An excellent opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and experienced Mental Health Social Workers to join Tameside Council's community-facing Adult Services. Based at Wilshaw House, the successful practitioners will work within an integrated framework alongside NHS partners to deliver high-quality, needs-based support. Job Responsibility
Conducts statutory Care Act assessments of service users and carers to formulate clear, outcome-focused support plans
Completes complex statutory legal work, including funding applications, court reports, Copdol, DoLS, and 21a challenges
Collaborates across health and social care disciplines to monitor, review, and evaluate complex community care packages
Participates on a rota basis in the local authority's Mental Health duty system to provide rapid responses to acute community crises
Offers regular clinical and peer supervision to local authority Community Support Workers and junior colleagues
Intervenes proactively in safeguarding matters when adults with care and support needs are identified as being at risk of abuse or neglect
Assists young service users with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) as they prepare to transition into adult provisions
Upkeeps accurate case records using the local authority's secure electronic recording systems
Requirements
Social Work degree (or CQSW/DipSW/CSS)
Social Work England registration
completed ASYE
full UK driving licence
Minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience
experience in clinical supervision and risk management within a mental health setting
Nice to have
Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) qualification
