Job Description

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and experienced Mental Health Social Workers to join Tameside Council's community-facing Adult Services. Based at Wilshaw House, the successful practitioners will work within an integrated framework alongside NHS partners to deliver high-quality, needs-based support. Job Responsibility

  • Conducts statutory Care Act assessments of service users and carers to formulate clear, outcome-focused support plans
  • Completes complex statutory legal work, including funding applications, court reports, Copdol, DoLS, and 21a challenges
  • Collaborates across health and social care disciplines to monitor, review, and evaluate complex community care packages
  • Participates on a rota basis in the local authority's Mental Health duty system to provide rapid responses to acute community crises
  • Offers regular clinical and peer supervision to local authority Community Support Workers and junior colleagues
  • Intervenes proactively in safeguarding matters when adults with care and support needs are identified as being at risk of abuse or neglect
  • Assists young service users with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) as they prepare to transition into adult provisions
  • Upkeeps accurate case records using the local authority's secure electronic recording systems

Requirements

  • Social Work degree (or CQSW/DipSW/CSS)
  • Social Work England registration
  • completed ASYE
  • full UK driving licence
  • Minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience
  • experience in clinical supervision and risk management within a mental health setting

Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) qualification
