Are you a dedicated Social Worker looking to make a meaningful impact within mental health services? We are seeking a qualified Mental Health Officer to join an integrated Health and Social Care Partnership team in the Helensburgh and Cowal area. This is a specialised role focused on upholding the rights and well-being of individuals under the Adults with Incapacity (AWI) legislation.
Job Responsibility:
Provide essential reports for AWI case conferences, Welfare Guardianship Orders (WGOs), and Intervention Orders
Undertake and coordinate MHO assessments using single shared assessment tools in partnership with multi-agency colleagues
Support individuals experiencing mental illness or incapacity while in hospital and arrange for continued community supervision post-discharge
Assist the Service Manager in implementing service plans and ensuring high-quality, best-value delivery to the community
Maintain accurate records and participate in Performance Development Reviews
Requirements:
Professional Social Work qualification (Diploma or Degree)
Postgraduate Certificate in Mental Health Social Work (MHO Qualified)
Current registration with the SSSC as a Social Worker
Valid PVG
Significant experience working with individuals facing severe mental health challenges
Strong assessment and risk management skills
Deep understanding of how mental health issues affect families
Ability to travel efficiently across various work locations within Argyll and Bute
Nice to have:
Experience in hospital-based social work or working closely with NHS mental health services
Experience working within small-town or rural community settings
