Job Description:

We are currently recruiting a calm, patient, and resilient Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist SEMH school in the Billingshurst area. This role involves supporting pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs within a structured, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment. Due to the rural location, applicants must be able to drive.

Job Responsibility:

  • Supporting pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs within a structured, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
  • Work closely with teaching and pastoral staff to provide consistent, individualised support throughout the school day
  • Play a key role in helping students feel safe, supported, and engaged in their learning
  • Adapt approach to meet emotional, behavioural, and educational needs

Requirements:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH needs
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Confidence supporting pupils within the classroom
  • Resilience and the ability to remain composed in challenging situations
  • Must be able to drive
  • Right to work in the UK or hold a valid work visa
  • Provide suitable references for pre-employment checks
  • Hold an enhanced DBS on the Children’s Workforce (or Children’s & Adults’) update service, or be willing to obtain one
