Job Responsibility

  • Work directly with a child presenting with complex mental health needs
  • Build trusting therapeutic relationships through consistency, empathy, patience and positive role modelling
  • Support the young person to develop emotional regulation, coping strategies, resilience and independence whilst maintaining clear professional boundaries
  • Respond calmly and confidently during periods of distress, using de-escalation techniques and trauma-informed approaches
  • Encourage engagement in education, hobbies, community activities and daily routines
  • Work collaboratively with families, social workers, CAMHS, education providers and other professionals
  • Tailor approach to the young person's individual needs, strengths and lived experiences
  • Think on your feet and solve problems creatively
  • Empower and advocate for the child at every opportunity

Requirements

  • Full Clean Valid UK Driving Licence
  • 21 years of age or over
  • Excellent English language skills
  • Ability to work a fixed rota, including days, nights and weekends
  • Genuine passion for supporting children through therapeutic, trauma-informed care
  • Calm, patient and emotionally resilient individual with excellent communication and active listening skills
  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with mental health conditions, trauma, emotional dysregulation, EUPD or complex behaviours is highly desirable
  • Experience within residential care, CAMHS, mental health, secure services or supported living would be advantageous
  • Relevant Health & Social Care qualifications are desirable
