Job Responsibility

  • Support and inform mental health carers, family and kin by ensuring they understand their rights, responsibilities, and available resources under legislation, policies, and procedures
  • Collaborate with mental health carers, family members and kin to problem-solve, provide guidance, and connect them with appropriate services, while maintaining accurate records and reports of engagement outcomes
  • Advocate for mental health carers, family members and kin within the mental health system, representing their needs and negotiating with other stakeholders and organisations to ensure their voices are heard
  • Facilitate education, training and support through workshops and programs that build carer advocacy skills, and strengthen awareness for stakeholders on carer rights and systemic supports

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (e.g. social work, psychology, counselling, nursing)
  • Current Driver’s license
  • Proof of Australian Working Rights
  • National Police Clearance (within 6 months)
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Working with Children Card
