Job Description

A welcoming specialist setting in Croydon are looking for a Mental Health Assistant to join their team. You will be supporting pupils with a range of additional needs including SEMH, autism, speech & language needs, and social, emotional and behavioural needs within a structured and supportive environment. The role is hands-on, varied, and incredibly rewarding.

Job Responsibility

  • Supporting learning activities within the classroom
  • Working with pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
  • Supporting emotional regulation and behaviour
  • Encouraging engagement, confidence, and positive relationships
  • Helping create a safe, consistent, and supportive learning environment

Requirements

  • Experience working with children or vulnerable individuals
  • Ideally experience supporting SEMH or challenging behaviour
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A proactive and adaptable attitude
  • Must have the right to work in the UK or hold a valid work visa
  • Provide suitable references for pre-employment checks
  • Hold an enhanced DBS on the Children’s Workforce (or Children’s & Adults’) update service, or be willing to obtain one
