Job Description

Our client is seeking a full-time Senior Technical Designer for a men’s brand. The ideal candidate has a minimum of 6 -7 years of multi-category experience including bottoms, knit and woven tops, and outerwear; has experience with fit; and can also review the existing blocks for accuracy and improvement. This is a very collaborative team and requires someone who has transportation to get to the office in Westchester County. (There isn’t public transportation to their office.) This is an in-office 5 day a week role / not hybrid. The salary range for this role is $95-125,000 based on experience.

Job Responsibility

  • Work closely with the Design and Production departments to generate precise measurements and detailed tech packs
  • Oversee the fit process from initial development through production—including PP and TOP sample review
  • Collaborate with the Design team to create comprehensive development and production tech packs
  • Measure samples and enter detailed specs into tech packs prior to fittings
  • Lead in-person fittings
  • evaluate samples on live models to provide clear, detailed fit comments and corrections to overseas factories
  • Update tech packs to reflect design changes, construction adjustments, and spec revisions as needed
  • Maintain the development and production cycle to ensure all technical deadlines are met
  • Provide accurate graded specifications to ensure consistent fit across all styles and sizes
  • Measure and review PP / TOP samples, providing critical feedback to overseas partners
  • Communicate feedback to internal teams and cross-functional partners to ensure product excellence
  • Monitor quality concerns and production issues to provide proactive technical solutions and recommendations
  • Plan and organize workload according to the production schedule and seasonal calendar
  • Assist the team as needed, maintaining a flexible, helpful mentality

Requirements

  • Minimum 6 years of experience in the apparel industry as a Technical Designer (menswear background preferred)
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Technical Design, Fashion Design, or a related field
  • Extensive knowledge of pattern making, garment construction, points of measurement, and grading
  • Proven experience in live model fitting and communicating detailed technical corrections to overseas vendors
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Working knowledge of CLO 3D for pattern correction

Nice to have

  • Basic knowledge of Adobe Illustrator is a plus
  • Ability to travel overseas to the factory if needed
