Job Description:

The Melt Crew is responsible for safely handling molten metal at extremely high temperatures, supporting daily furnace operations, and maintaining related equipment such as ladles and refractory linings. This includes preparing and pouring metal, performing routine repairs, and ensuring all work is conducted with a strong focus on safety, teamwork, and attention to detail.

Job Responsibility:

  • Safely handling molten metal at extremely high temperatures
  • Supporting daily furnace operations
  • Maintaining related equipment such as ladles and refractory linings
  • Preparing and pouring metal
  • Performing routine repairs
  • Ensuring all work is conducted with a strong focus on safety, teamwork, and attention to detail
  • Interacting with liquid metal at temperatures exceeding 2800 degrees
  • Maintaining holders / ladles and at times repairs on the furnace including daily patches, repairs and relining the refractory
  • Preparing the pouring ladles for daily use

Requirements:

  • Must be able to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed instructions
  • Must be able to discern imperfections, understand quality of repairs of iron holders / ladles
  • Must be able to understand basic addition to tally units per training
  • Must be able to learn job duties and locations from verbal instructions
  • Must be able to obtain a tow motor license and successfully pass LOTO and confined space training
  • Must be available for weekend and overtime assignments as required
