The Gastroenterology Department at the Great Western Hospital in Swindon is looking for a Medical Typist / Administrator who is reliable and enthusiastic to join their friendly team. The post will be an integral part of the Unscheduled Care secretarial group providing an efficient typing service to the division in support of the work of Consultants and other Clinical Staff and the Clinical Lead to maximise patient care.
Job Responsibility:
Typing clinics, letters, reports, and other patient related documentation
Ensure all work leaving the department is of the highest quality and dispatched within agreed timescales
Scan documents onto patient records (Careflow)
Learn the digital dictation system and ensure processes are followed
Retrieve, log and return case notes / medical records
Undertake administrative (Choose and Book), clerical duties as required
Prepare referral letters for clinics and forward filing
Update and maintain a working knowledge of hospital systems
Distribute all incoming correspondence and ensure outgoing mail is ready for daily collection
Participate in regular meetings and be actively involved in generating ideas for service improvement
Promote a positive image of the Trust at all times
Requirements:
Educated GCSE (or equivalent) English and Maths
RSA II or equivalent in secretarial skills and typing
Demonstrable working knowledge of Microsoft packages- Word, Excel etc
Maintenance of computerised files
Excellent secretarial qualifications and knowledge of Microsoft Word
Good communication skills
Mature and professional approach
Ability to work well as a team member
Current right to work in the UK which enables undertaking the role without need of sponsorship
Nice to have:
Certificate in Medical Terminology
European Computer Driving Licence
Secretary qualification
Willingness to actively seek personal development and training
Knowledge of security and confidential issues in relation to handling personal information
