Job Description

A nationally recognized pediatric hospital is conducting a confidential search for a Medical Transportation Driver to safely transport young patients to and from medical appointments and procedures. This role is ideal for a compassionate professional who values patient comfort, safety, and confidentiality while providing exceptional service to children and their families.

Job Responsibility

  • Safely transport pediatric patients to and from medical appointments and hospital procedures
  • Ensure the comfort and emotional well-being of patients and their families during transportation
  • Assist patients with entering and exiting the vehicle as needed, following all hospital safety protocols
  • Monitor patients’ condition during transit and promptly report concerns to medical staff
  • Maintain a clean, sanitized, and well-functioning vehicle at all times
  • Communicate clearly and empathetically with patients, families, and hospital staff
  • Accurately document transportation services and maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA standards
  • Follow all traffic laws, hospital policies, and safe driving practices
  • Collaborate with medical staff and transportation coordinators to ensure timely, efficient service
  • Attend required trainings and stay current with hospital safety and compliance procedures

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Strong sense of empathy, professionalism, and patient-centered care
  • MediClear Certification (or equivalent healthcare compliance credential) required
  • Ability to remain calm and reassuring in sensitive situations
  • Knowledge of safe patient handling and basic medical equipment preferred
  • Ability to lift or assist patients as needed and maintain alertness throughout shifts

  • Transports participants to and from medical/specialist appointments, and activity outings, as assigned by the Interdisciplinary Team via the plan of care
  • Transports meals, durable medical equipment, pharmacy, and any other items as deemed necessary for participant
  • Provides physical assistance to each participant when needed as he/she boards and debarks from the program's vehicles
  • Ensures vehicle equipment is maintained and operating within manufactures recommendations, replacing supplies as needed
  • Functions as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team when appropriate
