Basic Life Support certification
Clinical Laboratory Technologist license
If Bachelor‘s Degree in Medical Technology or related science as required by the State of Florida, no experience required
If Associate‘s Degree in Medical Technology or related science as required by the State of Florida, a minimum of two years medical technologist experience at BHSF and fulfilling appropriate career advancement/packet criteria required
All candidates require a State of Florida Clinical Laboratory Technologist license in appropriate discipline(s) with complete knowledge of medical technology theory and practice
BLS certification required for BOS Urgent Care locations only
Minimum Required Experience: 2 Years

Job Responsibility

Performs laboratory analyses in an accurate, timely, courteous and effective manner to support comprehensive patient care
In certain entities (BOS Urgent Cares), Lab Techs will be required to support the TEAM CARE Model to ensure patient workflow efficiencies are met, and patient satisfaction goals achieved

Education Required: Bachelor’s or Associate's Degree or graduation from a Medical Technology program approved by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) OR an equivalent program, in a science related field, or documented equivalent education and training
Experience Required: No experience required
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
Frequently lifts up to 10 lbs. Will occasionally be required to lift up to 50 lbs.
Must be able to sit, stand and walk for the majority of the workday
May be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, explosive, radioactive and/or infectious agents
Will be exposed to human blood and body fluids
Must wear appropriate lab coat, gloves, gowns and eye and face protection as needed
Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job

Job Responsibility

Performs, evaluates, and monitors laboratory tests as authorized within established protocols, selecting and performing additional procedures when indicated
Monitors workflow and makes necessary adjustment to complete work in an appropriate time frame
Performs and documents calibration, maintenance and repair of instruments and equipment
Recognizes indicators of test and/or instrument malfunction
evaluates and implements appropriate corrections
Performs, documents and reviews quality control and quality assurance for improvement according to established protocol
Ascertains that specimens are properly labeled and suitable for testing
Collects specimens from newborn, pediatric, and adult patients according to established protocol
Provides general direction, training, competency review and technical assistance to medical laboratory technicians, phlebotomists, and support staff
Assists in the development of education and training protocols
