Job Responsibility

Set up and processing of samples for Microbiology testing
Testing of patient samples using gram stain and rapid EIA technologies, sorting and organizing patient samples for testing and storage
adherence to quality control and quality assurance protocols
reporting results of testing via LIS/ instrument interface, as well as manual data entry
answering telephone inquiries
maintaining laboratory stock of kits/ reagents
performing daily/ weekly/ monthly preventative maintenance on lab equipment
participating in training of technologists
Perform patient testing with primary emphasis on Bacteriology cultures and associated rapid technologies for identification and/or susceptibility testing
With experience- opportunity to rotate into special MIC testing, Mycology, Parasitology, or Mycobacteriology
