Job Responsibility

Assists with general patient care following established clinic workflows
Greets and prepares patients for the health care provider by completing intake duties such as documenting the patient’s reason for visit, obtaining and recording vital signs, reviewing documented drug allergies, asking if patient taking medications listed in EMR, and completing appropriate screening questionnaires
Collects and prepares ordered specimens for laboratory analysis
Cleans and sterilizes instruments
Ensures patient exam rooms are stocked, clean, and orderly
Escalates non-routine issues, questions and/or concerns timely and appropriately

Job Responsibility

Room patients, this includes but not limited to: escort patients to examination rooms, prepare them for the provider by completing medication reconciliation, obtaining and recording in the electronic medical record system the patient’s medical history, chief complaint, assess vitals, complete care gaps and any additional care as needed or requested
Support telehealth visits: similar to rooming patients, the MA will prepare the patient for the provider portion of the visit, this includes identifying the chief complaint, completing a medication reconciliation, addressing care gaps, confirming the patient’s pharmacy
Prepare exam rooms for patient exams, ensuring that exam rooms are neat, clean, well-stocked and properly prepared
Collect urine, blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing
Operate electrocardiogram (EKG) or other equipment to administer routine diagnostic tests
Prepare and administer medications and vaccines as directed by the provider with appropriate written orders
Provide education to patients regarding treatment procedures, medications, diets, providers’ instructions and preparation necessary for diagnostic tests, x-rays and laboratory examinations
Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies
Perform and document point-of-care equipment testing daily before beginning patient care
