Job Description:

Under general supervision, the Medical Social Work Supervisor oversees recruitment, training, supervision, and evaluation of social work staff, assigns caseloads, and provides clinical consultation and supervision on complex cases. Additionally, they coordinate medical social services programs, perform therapy, handle administrative duties, and participate in hospital and community activities.

Performs therapy
Handles administrative duties
Participates in hospital and community activities
Supervises assigned personnel
Provides consultation concerning the most difficult/complex cases
Manages complex cases as needed
Prepares work schedule and assignments for medical social work staff
Reviews important and difficult cases to check eligibility
Makes administrative decisions and provides clinical consultation and supervision to Medical Social Workers
Acts as liaison between medical social service staff and various hospital departments, personnel and community agencies
Participates in the preparation and maintenance of individual case records
Prepares or supervises the preparation of periodic performance reports and related statistics
Interprets medical policies and procedures to Social Workers and medical vendors
Performs as the departmental representative and takes a leadership role at conferences, workshops, seminars, regional committees and related meetings
Participates in quality improvement efforts

Requirements:

Four (4) years of post-Master's Medical Social Worker experience in a health care setting
Current licensure as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) issued by the State of California Board of Behavioral Sciences as required under Title 22, California Administrative Code, Section 70055
