Job Description:

The Medical Scribe (Clinical Informatics Specialist) supports primary care providers with clinical documentation to enable exceptional patient care. The role entails observing and documenting patient encounters, assisting with clinical workflows, improving documentation accuracy, and administrative support.

Job Responsibility:

Joining the provider in the exam room to observe patient visits
documenting patient encounters in a structured note
assigning appropriate CPT and ICD-10 codes
preparing After Visit Summaries
consulting with provider to ensure accurate and specific documentation
requesting and reviewing medical records
preparing for and supporting Daily Huddles and Clinical Documentation Reviews
consulting with provider on clinical documentation opportunities
placing orders and referrals
addressing tasks
supporting the care team
other duties as assigned

Requirements:

Knowledge of medical terminology and common medications
prior clinical experience
prior scribe or transcription experience
advanced listening and communication skills
strong computer literacy
fluency in Spanish, Polish, Russian, or other languages where indicated
ability to adapt to new workflows and quickly learn new concepts and skills
ability to type 70+ words per minute
ability and willingness to take direction and work in a team
excellent job attendance
ability to commit to 1 year in role
ability to work approximately 40-45 hours per week
compliance with hospital and Oak Street Health policies
US work authorization

Nice to have:

Prior scribe or transcription experience
fluency in Spanish, Polish, Russian, or other languages
ability to type 70+ words per minute
