Job Description:

Medical Scribe role supporting primary care providers with clinical documentation to allow providers to focus on patient care. Responsibilities include documenting patient encounters, assigning medical codes, improving clinical documentation, and providing administrative support to the care team.

Job Responsibility:

Documenting patient encounters in structured notes including history of present illness, assessment, plan, and physical exam
Assigning appropriate CPT and ICD-10 codes
Preparing After Visit Summaries
Consulting with provider to ensure accurate documentation
Requesting and reviewing medical records
Leveraging population health tools to support clinical documentation improvement
Preparing for and supporting Daily Huddles and Clinical Documentation Reviews
Placing orders and referrals
Addressing tasks
Supporting care team with clinical documentation responsibilities

Requirements:

Knowledge of medical terminology and common medications from pre-medical degree or prior clinical experience
Prior clinical experience including shadowing and/or volunteering
Prior scribe or transcription experience (preferred)
Advanced listening and communication skills
Strong computer literacy and ability to learn new technical workflows
Fluency in Spanish, Polish, Russian, or other languages spoken by communities served (where indicated)
Ability to adapt to new workflows and quickly learn new concepts
Ability to type 70+ words per minute (strongly preferred)
Ability to take direction and be a team member
Excellent job attendance including ability to work in-person
Ability to commit to at least 1 year in role (2+ ideal)
Ability to work 40-45 hours per week during clinic hours
Compliance with hospital and Oak Street Health policies including HIPAA
US work authorization

Nice to have:

Prior scribe or transcription experience
Ability to type 70+ words per minute
