Job Description

Comfort Medical, a wholly owned subsidiary of Coloplast, has an exciting opportunity for Medical Records Specialist to join our growing team! This role is responsible for interacting with medical facilities and providers’ offices in an effort to collect medical record documentation; management of medical files, and scanning them into the database. We are seeking candidates based in or near Coral Springs, FL or Minneapolis, MN. Although this position is primarily remote, the selected candidate must be able to attend in-person training sessions at the office as needed.

Job Responsibility

  • Interact with medical facilities and providers’ offices to collect medical record documentation
  • Management of medical files and scanning them into the database
  • Organize and maintain customer medical records by collecting pertinent information and uploading leads into the database
  • Review each medical record for missing documentation
  • Check physician’s notes for appropriate diagnosis
  • Verify correct person has signed all paperwork
  • Ensure correction of deficient documentation and documentation requiring signature are received and filed in required time frame
  • Call referral sources to obtain corrected, deficient or missing documentation
  • Ensure accuracy of components within files and scanning into system
  • Collect verbal orders, written copy of verbal order, and authenticated doctor’s order prior to billing
  • Identify and overcome objectives to resolve complaints and ensure customer retention and satisfaction
  • Identify and report errors and quality deficiencies to manager
  • Fulfill requests by clarifying desired information
  • Complete transactions
  • Forward requests when applicable
  • Maintain customer records by entering information accurately
  • Keep equipment operational by following procedures
  • Report equipment malfunctions
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities
  • Enhance organization’s reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests
  • Contribute ideas to resolve problems and improve productivity
  • Communicate effectively with teammates
  • Remain knowledgeable of Medicare policies and federal/state regulations

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience
  • English/Spanish bilingual preferred
  • Clerical skills including proficiency with data entry and computers programs
  • Willingness to engage in telephone direct sales
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently
  • Call center experience is desired as position entails a high amount of customer interaction over the phone.
