Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Records Coordinator who is fluent in both English and Spanish and experienced in using the Epic electronic health record (EHR) system. This role is responsible for managing patient medical records, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with all healthcare regulations, while also supporting Spanish-speaking patients and staff.

Job Responsibility

  • Maintain, organize, and update patient medical records in the Epic EHR system
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely entry of patient information
  • Respond to medical records requests (internal and external) in compliance with HIPAA regulations
  • Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and staff in both English and Spanish
  • Assist patients with record requests, forms, and general inquiries
  • Perform chart audits and quality checks to ensure compliance and data integrity
  • Coordinate with clinical and administrative teams to resolve discrepancies in records
  • Scan, index, and upload documents into Epic
  • Track and manage release of information (ROI) requests
  • Support process improvements related to medical records management

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in medical records or healthcare administration
  • Hands-on experience with Epic EHR system (required)
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (spoken and written)
  • Strong knowledge of HIPAA and medical records regulations
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced healthcare environment
