Job Description:

We are looking for a detail-oriented Medical Records Clerk to join our team on a contract basis in Birmingham, Alabama. In this role, you will be responsible for managing clinical documentation, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations, and supporting accurate claims processing. This position requires proficiency in medical coding, familiarity with electronic medical record systems, and a commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality.

Job Responsibility:

  • Review and input clinical documentation in alignment with healthcare standards and regulations
  • Utilize medical coding principles, including diagnosis codes, to ensure accurate claims processing
  • Prepare and submit billing claims, adhering to all necessary requirements for reimbursement
  • Operate and maintain the eClinicalWorks (eCW) system for documentation and billing tasks, while quickly adapting to new system features
  • Identify and address issues impacting revenue cycle management, escalating concerns when necessary
  • Protect the confidentiality and integrity of sensitive patient information
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to update patient records accurately and efficiently

Requirements:

  • Experience in managing medical records and clinical documentation
  • Proficiency in electronic medical record systems, such as eClinicalWorks, Allscripts, or Cerner
  • Knowledge of medical coding, including ICD-10 diagnosis codes
  • Familiarity with billing processes and requirements for healthcare claims
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining data integrity
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to revenue cycle management
