Job Description:

Our client is seeking medical record retrievers to join their risk adjustment team, providing essential support for retrieving patient records from healthcare providers. This fully remote, 90-day contract role offers five openings: one lead and four medical chart retrieval positions. You will facilitate outbound communication with hospitals, physician offices, and healthcare facilities, as well as collaborate with third parties to obtain necessary documentation. The role requires strict adherence to privacy laws and regulations, accurate documentation of retrieved information using various computer platforms and databases, and a professional demeanor. Equipment will be provided, and you will work a standard 40-hour week.

Job Responsibility:

  • Conduct outbound calls to hospitals, physician offices, and healthcare facilities to retrieve patient medical records
  • Collaborate with third parties to obtain records and access as needed
  • Ensure compliance with privacy laws and regulations throughout the retrieval process
  • Accurately document and track all retrieved information using databases and computer systems
  • Communicate effectively with providers and third parties to facilitate timely record retrieval
  • Utilize phone and fax for outreach and documentation as required
  • File and organize obtained documents according to established procedures

Requirements:

  • Minimum 1 year experience auditing and abstracting medical records
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and ability to read and interpret medical records
  • Experience working with payers and third-party providers
  • Medical record/HIM experience with outreach to providers
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for outreach to hospitals, physician offices, and healthcare facilities
  • Proficient in using Microsoft platforms including Excel and comfortable working within databases
  • Ability to abide by privacy laws and regulations related to medical record retrieval
  • Strong customer service skills, professional demeanor, and good work ethic
  • Experience with filing and accurate documentation of obtained information
  • Ability to use phone and fax for communication and documentation
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment
