We are looking for a Medical Receptionist to support a busy behavioral health front office. This contract position plays an important role in creating a welcoming experience for individuals and families while coordinating both in-person and telehealth intake visits. The ideal candidate is organized, adaptable, and comfortable managing changing lobby activity while maintaining accuracy in patient records and appointment scheduling.
Job Responsibility:
Welcome patients and families for walk-in intake visits, creating a friendly and detail-oriented first impression in person and through telehealth support
Verify and collect registration materials by scanning identification and insurance documents and establishing new patient charts as needed
Guide patients through access to the patient portal and explain basic next steps related to registration and communication
Assist individuals and families with completing intake documentation, including consent forms, privacy acknowledgments, and release paperwork
Complete the check-out process by updating client records, entering staff assignments, and arranging follow-up appointments with careful attention to scheduling details
Coordinate appointments across a dynamic intake environment, ensuring calendars remain accurate and organized as daily volume changes
Maintain accurate front-desk documentation and support administrative workflows tied to patient intake and follow-up activities
Learn additional duties over time through training, shadowing, and support from experienced team members and leadership
Requirements:
Previous experience in medical reception, front desk operations, or patient-facing administrative support
Working knowledge of patient scheduling, check-in procedures, and general receptionist responsibilities in a healthcare setting
Familiarity with basic medical terminology and comfort using electronic charts or patient record systems
Strong attention to detail, especially when handling multi-step scheduling and registration tasks
Ability to remain flexible and composed in an environment where patient traffic and wait times may shift throughout the day
Clear communication skills with the ability to assist patients and families in a courteous and supportive manner
Comfort learning new procedures gradually with guidance, coaching, and on-the-job training
