We are looking for a Medical Receptionist to support daily front-desk operations for a healthcare organization near Hackensack, New Jersey. The person in this role will serve as an important first point of contact for patients and visitors, helping the office run smoothly through attentive communication and dependable administrative support.
Job Responsibility
Welcome patients, visitors, and clients with a courteous and attentive approach while guiding them to the appropriate staff member or department
Manage front-desk check-in activities and gather required information to ensure each visit begins efficiently
Help patients complete intake, registration, and insurance-related paperwork with accuracy and attention to detail
Answer incoming phone calls, respond to routine questions, and route calls to the correct team members when further assistance is needed
Schedule appointments and confirm key details such as updated contact information, registration changes, or new patient status
Explain what documents or information patients should bring to their visit so they are prepared at the time of arrival
Maintain organized patient-facing administrative processes that support smooth office flow and timely service
Communicate clearly with clinical and administrative teams to support patient access and front office coordination
Requirements
Experience with patient scheduling in a medical office or similar healthcare front-desk setting
Working knowledge of medical front office procedures, including reception and patient check-in activities
Ability to handle receptionist duties with professionalism, discretion, and strong customer service skills
Familiarity with basic medical terminology used in a healthcare environment
Strong verbal communication skills and confidence interacting with patients, visitors, and internal staff
Comfortable completing administrative documentation accurately, including insurance and registration forms
Ability to multitask, stay organized, and manage a busy reception area effectively
