We are looking for an experienced and dependable Medical Receptionist to support a busy healthcare office near Hackensack, New Jersey. The person in this role will coordinate appointments, assist with registration and insurance documentation, and serve as a key point of contact for visitors and callers.
Job Responsibility
Welcome patients, visitors, and clients with professionalism, identify the reason for each visit, and guide them to the appropriate staff member or department
Support patient intake by helping individuals complete required paperwork and confirming insurance and registration details are accurately recorded
Manage incoming phone calls, route messages to the correct team members, and transfer calls promptly when additional assistance is needed
Arrange appointments while verifying demographic updates, determining whether visits are for new or existing patients, and explaining what documentation patients should bring
Coordinate related scheduling needs, including hospital admissions, diagnostic testing, imaging appointments, and visits with outside providers
Perform patient check-in activities and maintain an orderly front office environment that promotes efficient daily operations
Communicate clearly with patients regarding appointment logistics, required forms, and next steps before their visit
Requirements
Experience in a medical front office, reception, or patient-facing administrative role
Working knowledge of patient scheduling processes and front-desk coordination in a healthcare setting
Familiarity with patient check-in procedures, registration updates, and insurance information collection
Basic understanding of medical terminology used in outpatient or hospital environments
Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to interact courteously with patients, visitors, and staff
Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently, including phones, scheduling, and documentation support
Proficiency with standard office systems and comfort handling electronic scheduling or registration tasks
