We are looking for a detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to support a busy healthcare office in New York. This long-term contract position is ideal for someone who enjoys helping patients, coordinating front-desk operations, and delivering a welcoming experience from the first phone call through follow-up visits. The role combines appointment coordination, insurance-related administrative work, and day-to-day office support in a patient-focused setting.
Job Responsibility
Coordinate incoming and outgoing phone communication, schedule patient visits, and respond to questions related to upcoming appointments and general billing matters
Confirm insurance details, prepare required documentation, and help ensure hearing aid orders and related materials are ready for scheduled patient visits
Maintain accurate patient account information while handling sensitive records with discretion and following healthcare compliance standards
Manage appointment reminder and confirmation activities to support attendance and create a smooth, courteous experience for each patient interaction
Explain service pricing, review insurance coverage and payment options, and arrange follow-up or outpatient visits when additional care is needed
Support office performance goals by following quality standards, contributing to best practices, and encouraging patient referrals as appropriate
Collaborate closely with staff members, demonstrate strong judgment in daily operations, and foster respectful communication with patients and colleagues
Build productive relationships with external service providers, assist with supply and inventory coordination, and communicate effectively with vendors
Participate in ongoing learning opportunities, including scheduled calls and training sessions, to stay current on office procedures and patient service expectations
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent required
an associate or bachelor's degree is preferred
At least 2 years of experience in a medical front office, reception, retail, call center, or customer service setting
Practical experience with patient scheduling, check-in activities, and general receptionist responsibilities
Working knowledge of basic medical terminology and front-desk processes in a healthcare environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
Familiarity with insurance verification, medical billing support, and reimbursement-related workflows
Strong communication, organization, and customer service skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities professionally
