We are looking for an experienced Medical Receptionist to support a busy patient-facing practice in Elmira, New York. This Long-term Contract opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing administrative accuracy with warm, detail-oriented service throughout the patient journey. The person in this role will help coordinate appointments, address common pre-visit questions, and keep front office operations organized while maintaining a high standard of confidentiality and care.
Job Responsibility:
Coordinate incoming and outgoing patient calls, arrange appointments, and provide clear guidance on visit preparation, billing questions, and next steps
Review insurance details, prepare required documentation, and help ensure devices or services are ready and delivered on schedule for upcoming visits
Maintain patient records and account information with discretion, following privacy expectations and established healthcare regulations
Manage appointment reminder and confirmation activities to reduce scheduling gaps and promote a smooth, positive experience for every patient interaction
Explain service pricing, coverage details, and available payment arrangements, then schedule follow-up visits or outpatient appointments when appropriate
Contribute to office performance goals by supporting quality-focused processes, encouraging patient referrals, and reinforcing a wellness-centered approach to care
Collaborate closely with staff members, demonstrating reliability and respectful communication with both patients and colleagues
Build and sustain productive relationships with external providers and vendors while assisting with supply tracking and inventory coordination
Take part in ongoing career development through regular training sessions, conference calls, and in-person learning opportunities
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required
additional college education is preferred
At least 2 years of experience in a front desk, medical office, call center, retail, sales, or customer service setting
Working knowledge of patient scheduling, reception support, and front office operations
Familiarity with insurance verification, medical billing discussions, and reimbursement-related workflows
Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with patients, teammates, and outside partners
Comfortable handling confidential information while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
Basic understanding of medical terminology and patient check-in procedures
