Registered MRT(R), CMRITO/C.A.M.R.T
CT experience or willing to be trained
Proficient in computer database applications, ie HIS/RIS,PACS
Professional attitude and conduct towards patients and staff
Familiar with Occupational Health & Safety Workers’ rights and responsibilities
Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated strong interpersonal skill with the ability to function effectively independently, within a team, with front line personnel, and management

Job Responsibility

Performs high quality diagnostic images
Adheres to the As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) principle
Use available equipment while incorporating policies and best practices in radiology to performing exams and documentation
Must be available for a regular rotation of on-call and weekends and provide coverage for vacation, sick leave etc.
Willingness to travel between RHC sites as required.
Work independently and in a collaborative team environment
Must treat all information concerning patient affairs or illnesses and/or hospital business as confidential, privileged information, which must never be discussed except in the course of duty.
Perform radiographic examinations using both stationary and portable equipment in all patient care areas of the hospital.
Perform examinations in areas of specialization including mammography, special procedures and CT.
After a sufficient training period the technologist may commence duties in these areas of specialization: - The technologist will be responsible to the Manager and Radiologist for the quality of work performed in these areas. - Quality control and quality management will be frequently monitored and reported on by the technologist to the Manager who will take appropriate action. - Quality management will be maintained in accordance with the goals and objectives of the organization and department and regular reports will be provided for the Manager to be presented to the Quality Council. - Records and files for these areas will be maintained by the Quality Management Co-ordinator for the department

Requirements

Must have a willingness to attend required training to become a licensed Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist.
Graduate of a recognized Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) training program and Certified by the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) is an asset
Minimum of one year experience in an MRI setting is preferred
Applicants must either possess a current practice license with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO) in Radiography, Nuclear Medicine, Radiation Therapy, or Ultrasonography, OR have completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a registered health professional program, including six credit hours each in Human Anatomy & Physiology and a health care–related subject (e.g., pathology, ethics, psychology, sociology, medical research, etc.)
Certification in Contrast Injection or willingness to obtain training is preferred
Magnetic Resonance Safety Officer (MRSO) Certification or willingness to obtain training is preferred
Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and patient-centered approach
Effective problem-solving skills, critical thinking and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced clinical environment

Job Responsibility

Performs diagnostic MRI scans according to established protocols, adapting for patient condition or clinical judgment to ensure high-quality imaging and diagnostic accuracy.
Works collaboratively with radiologists, physicians, and other technologists to support timely and accurate diagnoses while also supporting patient care.
Demonstrates cultural humility and awareness when engaging with patients from diverse backgrounds, particularly Indigenous and surrounding First Nations communities in Northwestern Ontario.
Performs routine quality assurance and equipment safety checks to ensure compliance with equipment standards and regulatory expectations.

Participates in complex invasive CT exams by assisting the radiologist in performing the procedure using proper sterile technique and producing CT images in order to provide therapeutic and diagnostic services
Some may start intravenous sites, assess existing sites and inject intravenous contrast according to established protocols to assist the radiologist in diagnosis
Practices radiation safety through appropriate use of shielding, correct exposure factors and field sizes while adhering to radiation safety standards in order to protect patient and staff and to comply with regulatory agencies and requirements
Maintain the CT equipment in good operating order. Clean and disinfect equipment and area after each use. Maintain work area in an orderly manner. Report any hazardous conditions or equipment breakdowns to supervisor
Demonstrates yearly competencies, including knowledge and behaviors, to conduct examinations and meet the needs of patients with regard to the patient’s age, condition or other special requirements
Assess physician’s order and patient’s requisition for completeness by reviewing the requisition, pertinent laboratory results and the patient’s chart to ensure the correct procedure and protocol is performed
Documents pertinent patient and exam information and stores computerized images onto an archive media for future reference or retrieval
Routinely prepare examination for interpretation by the radiologist to include correct identification and processing. Set up films properly in PACs system. Accurately inputs data in the RIS by tracking actual procedure in order to capture all charges and other relevant information
Possess computer skills appropriate to meet departmental needs in preparation of reports and correspondence
