We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Consultant in Medical Oncology with a specialist interest in Breast and Gynaecological malignancies to join our dynamic oncology team. This is a 10PA substantive post, offering an exciting opportunity to contribute to the delivery of world-class cancer care, research, and innovation. This role within the Department of Oncology will increase the provision of support and management of patients with breast and gynaecological malignancies.; the appointed candidate will join an existing team of 10 oncology medical staff including consultants, SAS doctors and specialist trainees. On joining the department, you will become part of a well-established, friendly team and will help us continue to drive forward improvements in the service that we provide to our patients. The role will include weekly MDT meetings in breast and gynaecological malignancies, clinics in these tumour sites and contribution to the acute oncology service.
Job Responsibility:
Multidisciplinary team working
Providing evidence-based care for patients in a multidisciplinary setting
Continuing responsibility for the care of patients in your charge, including all administrative duties
Development of sub-specialty interests that fit in with Division needs and the strategic direction of the Trust
Carrying out teaching, examination and accreditation duties
Contributing to undergraduate and post-graduate and continuing medical education activity
Provision of cover for Consultant colleagues' periods of leave
Participation in clinical audit and in continuing medical education
Conducting suitable duties in cases of emergencies and unforeseen circumstances
Management and Leadership Responsibilities
To support the Clinical Lead in policy and strategy development
To contribute to the leadership and development of Services
Ensure effective communication and involvement of staff across the Division
Work in partnership with colleagues in other Divisions within the Trust
Assist in the cost-effective utilisation of resources
Work within the Trusts framework for Clinical Governance and Risk
Undertake direct supervision of junior colleagues and participate in departmental/trust wide teaching programmes
Undertake investigations and report writing for incidents and participate in clinical risk management
Requirements:
Full registration with the General Medical Council
MRCP or equivalent
CCT in Medical Oncology or entry onto the Specialist Register in medical Oncology or a UK SpR within 6 months of CCT date at interview
Wide experience in General Medicine and oncology
Experience in research
Demonstrable ability to manage priorities
Demonstrable multi-disciplinary team leadership skills
