Job Responsibility:

  • Perform as part of a team within the relevant department and throughout the laboratory to ensure the Laboratory delivers a quality service to the Users of the service
  • Work towards meeting the quality objectives of the Laboratory and the Blackrock Clinic as directed by the Chief Medical Scientist

Requirements:

A background in science, preferably a BSc in Biomedical or Biological Science (advantageous however not essential)

  • Scan all slides into scanners and provide edits per protocol
  • Run and maintain the staining and cover-slipping instruments
  • Accurately scan all slides and blocks returned from pathologists at benchmark
  • Clinical and Anatomic
  • Process other add-on requests in a timely manner including all Antrim changes to original accession number
  • Processing biopsy submissions under fume hood
  • Organizing TRF (test request forms) with samples on grossing trays
  • Sorting urgent and manifest samples
  • Drying leaked TRF’s per SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) and performing container transfers
