As our Medical Lab Technologist, you will perform vital clinical laboratory procedures to detect, identify, measure, and report data crucial for disease diagnosis and treatment. Every day, you will expertly conduct waived and moderate procedures using technical skills, instrumentation, and information systems, providing essential clinical laboratory support while ensuring the quality and accuracy of all tests under leadership direction. To be successful in this role, you will possess comprehensive knowledge of laboratory principles across various disciplines (microbiology, hematology, chemistry, etc.), understand sample processing and result interpretation, prioritize chemical and biological safety, and be adept at operating and maintaining lab equipment.
Job Responsibility
Perform laboratory tests on all scheduled benches as assigned according to current protocols, procedures, and quality assurance requirements
Maintain a high level of precision and accuracy for all testing
Report problems that may adversely affect test performance or results
Report critical values in a timely manner to appropriate personnel
Process lab specimens and prepare lab samples for shipment as needed
Perform maintenance on equipment in a timely manner
Perform preventative maintenance protocols
Investigate and correct equipment malfunctions
Document appropriately
Perform quality control procedures, including instrument function checks and calibrations as needed
Monitor quality control results to assure that acceptable levels of analytic performance are maintained
Participate in laboratory quality assurance and quality assurance activities
Participate in continuing education
Follow all laboratory procedures including safety guidelines, the use of personal protective equipment and awareness of blood-borne pathogens
Maintain a clean and safe work environment
